Class Overview
NAC 284.441 requires a hiring authority to provide employment candidates with a description of the essential functions of the open position. In addition, it states that an appointing authority shall consider the essential functions of the position when determining which candidate will be offered employment.
Essential functions are used by human resource staff and health care providers due to provisions such as workers' compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and fitness for duty evaluations.
For the above reasons, essential functions must be developed for each position and kept up to date. This class provides a brief overview of how to develop essential functions in NEATS.
