This courses discusses appropriate types and uses of firearms and related requirements or restrictions as determined by DPS Policy.  It discusses the 4th and 14th Amendment as they apply to the use of firearms and examines Tennessee v. Garner and Graham v. Connor as they apply to the establishment of a reasonable force legal standard and the use of deadly force/excessive force.

Course Requirements: This course is part of the mandatory yearly training requirements per AB478. You must not have previously taken this course for the year, and you must have permission from your supervisor to complete this course.

Minimum Passing Score: 70% on the Final Exam
