Course Overview:  With millions of U.S. workers exposed to heat in their workplaces, heat-related illness is preventable.  In this self-paced online course, learn about heat-related illness, signs and symptoms related to heat exposure, risk factors that make an individual more susceptible to developing heat-related complications, and mitigation strategies to prevent and treat heat-related illness.  It is a requirement that all DMV employees attend this initial and annual training.

Learning Objectives:

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Define what is heat-related illness.
  • Recognize job-related, environmental, and personal risk factors related to heat exposure.
  • Become familiar with common signs and symptoms of being overheated.
  • Identify prevention and first-aid treatment strategies for heat-related illness.
